"The new media are not ways of relating to us the "real" world; they are the real world and they reshape what remains of the old world at will." --Marshall McLuhan
“We have learned that we do not see directly, but mediately, and that we have no means of correcting these colored and distorting lenses which we are, or of computing the amount of their errors. Perhaps these subject-lenses have a creative power; perhaps there are no objects.” -- Ralph Waldo Emerson, "Experience"
"I think the subject which will be of most importance politically is Mass Psychology... Its importance has been enormously increased by the growth of modern methods of propaganda. Although this science will be diligently studied, it will be rigidly confined to the governing class. The populace will not be allowed to know how its convictions are generated." --Bertrand Russell

BIO: Hypnotherapist, IONA MILLER is a researcher, artist, filmmaker, and popular writer in future science, intelligence and esoterics. She analyzes the collective psyche and cultural effects of geopolitics, religion, science, art and psychology. She fuses wedging and culture jamming into documentary and art films. The ‘spywhisperer’ has appeared in Nexus and Paranoia, authored several books and international publications. A futurist, analyst, and consultant, specialties of this “Meta Hari” include social engineering, pop culture, pop physics and psychology, media ecology, source mysticism, psi research, esoteric espionage, New Age critique, cults, PSYOPS, mind control countermeasures, creativity, mindbody, well-being, conscious activism, and extraordinary human capacities. In an arena in which it is nearly impossible to unravel "the truth," rather than being interested in unprovable minutiae or untraceable connections, she analyzes general trends visible to all with a startling, unique viewpoint.
FREE RADICAL: Activist Iona Miller, consultant and transdisciplinarian, is a nonfiction writer for the academic and popular press, hypnotherapist (ACHE) and multimedia artist. Her work is an omnisensory fusion of sacred activism, intelligence reform, esoterics, science-art, chaos theory, pop physics, and emergent paradigm shift melding experiential psychotherapy, ultra-science, biophysics, chaos theory, resonant space, philosophy, cosmology, healing, creativity, articulated and tacit knowledge, qabalah, magick, paranormal, media ecology, mind control, paramedia ecology, metaphysics, and cultural filters.
ARTFUL LIVING; HEARTFUL HEALING: I consider myself a SCIENCE-ARTIST. I write about quantum theories of consciousness, but when we make a personal quantum leap the language of science fails, and we must use the contextual language of mysticism, or the graphic depictions of art. Often I am trying to embody and convey the visionary experience of my inner world through symbolic, impressionistic or abstract renderings that resemble my inner vision as much as possible.
This interface is the locus of the jump from the linear to the nonlinear, from the ego to psyche (spirit and soul), and from "knowing about" to "knowing by virtue of identity with" reality. WE ARE THAT. Art is the objective embodiment of the subjective imaginal reality in which we are all immersed.
Inspiration should be a verb, not a noun; it is a complex dynamic, a force of Nature and our nature. When someone asks me what “inspires” me and my artwork, I can’t imagine naming any one thing, or list of “things”. It’s like asking my favorite color. I can’t help but answer, ALL, “all of the Above and Below”. What doesn’t inspire the artistic eye that doesn’t merely “look at”, but “sees through” to the imaginal depth of any given perception or experience? Rather than the impressionistic senses informing the soul, the soul informs the multisensory experience of being. Inspiration means life, the opposite of death. It implies purpose, direction, meaning, ecstasy, creativity.
Any moment can be as inspirational as the next, approached with creativity, self-direction, and life-long learning. Each moment is a singularity. Inspiration can come from an internal movement or sensation, a love affair with color and form, the awe of an incandescent moment, a healing event, even the pain of a soul on fire struggling to express itself or the zeitgeist of the times. All ways of looking at reality are imaginative. When we see soul as the background of all phenomena, we become aware of the animating principle.
The soul in depth psychology is an empirical manifestation of imagination, fantasy, and creativity which is always in the process of becoming--images forming, and dissolving, and forming anew. Imagination is the essence of the life forces, both physical and psychic. It is the hidden ground behind symbol, archetype, metaphor, image. These fantasies always permeate our beliefs, ideas, emotions, and physical nature.
Our imagination is not something possessed by our minds, but the fundamental conscious/unconscious shared field of our psyche, our soul. The imaginal field is not derivative, but the very ground of our existence, conditioning all of our experience. Our psychophysical self embodies our unconscious. Our physical being IS our memory. It is where the personal encounters the transpersonal and finds “I AM That”. Imagination is the primary irreducible activity of the soul.
The image-making psyche or soul is the primary creative capacity, not only in art. Yet, perhaps, this is what is meant when it is said an artist has ‘soul,’ the capacity to draw on the inspirational mythopoetic taproot to Source, the creative field. Imagination is the basis of soul. In fact, to live the artistic life is to live immersed consciously in that aesthetically-nuanced Reality, to find it virtually inescapable.

HOLOGRAPHIC ARCHETYPES
Holographic Being * Holographic Memory * Holographic Ancestry
by Iona Miller, (c)2011
Exploring Archetypes in Physics, Myth, Psychology & Culture
Jung argued that imagination is structured by the archetypal potentials of the unconscious. Archetypes structure the possibility to generate and entertain such ideas. The archetype itself cannot be known but structures everything we come to know. Their totality functions as a holographic psychic organ. Universal themes appear in distinct cultural garb. But newer models question even the categories of such thought, orienting toward emergence and process theories, rather than inheritable structural theories.
Archetypes are raw potentials. As unconscious structuring principle, the archetype lies beyond normal consciousness and emerges suddenly and dynamically from the (holographic) psychoid field, with a powerful emotional charge that invests it with significance. Everything that happens is conditioned by the moment in which it happens. The universal field imposes the conditions. Matter is not inert but receptive to holistic patterning. If the mythic world taught our ancestors how to manipulate the empirical world, it also taught them to manipulate that mythic narrative itself for control purposes. Socioeconomic power enforces its mythic narrative.
The holographic psychoid field imposes holistic function. Autonomous inner forces arouse compelling opportunities to enact archetypal behaviors. They guide our perceptions and behavior, usually without our awareness. Limbic action of complexes is a big part of the holistic dynamics of the psyche. Dreams report what goes on beneath the veil of conscious awareness. To the consciousness of the 'thinker', knowledge is thought. Period. Without thought, the consciousness of the 'thinker' collapses into psychosis or transcendence.
With archetypes come the potential for wisdom, relatedness, sociality, ambiguity, projection, identification, denial, subpersonalities (fragmentation), hypnotic dissociation, the contagion of participation mystique, mythologizing, complexes, compensation, and self-delusion. Identity is a characteristic of the primitive mentality and the real foundation of participation mystique, which is nothing but a relic of the infantile non-differentiation of subject and object, the primordial unconscious state. The further we go back into history, the more we see personality disappearing beneath the wrappings of collectivity.
When a projection is strongly fixated, it may be next to impossible to separate one’s projected material from the person who is carrying the projection. Whether it is a person or an object, suddenly, all those things outside become carriers, unconsciously, of what resides within. Such illusory states left unconscious turn toxic and consuming. Denial leaves room for serious errors of fact. It is a warning against extreme conscious attitudes which inevitably get compensated by the Shadow. In the process Jung termed enantiodromia, projections can break or revert into their opposites as psyche seeks to equilibriate or rebalance itself.
